KO-23/25 PROBLEMS
HR AMSAT NEWS SERVICE BULLETIN 331.01 FROM AMSAT HQ
SILVER SPRING, MD JANUARY 12, 1996
TO ALL RADIO AMATEURS BT
BID: $ANS-012.02
KO-23's Tx efficiency has gone down momentarily because of the
present orbit configuration. At the present orbit, there is no eclipse
period, thus no time to cool down. It seems that this has heated up the
satellite. Resulting in a degradation in efficiency. The situation is being
monitored and the hope is that all will become normal in two weeks.
KO-25 has had some problems with the OBC(software crash) at
the end of last year. So far it seems that there is no problem
with the OBC or the software. the BBS opening up shortly..
ANS thanks Seorim Lee HL0ENJ, the KO-23/25 ground station,
for this item.

PHASE 3-D ANTENNA MANUFACTURING HELP NEEDED
HR AMSAT NEWS SERVICE BULLETIN 331.01 FROM AMSAT HQ
SILVER SPRING, MD JANUARY 7, 1996
TO ALL RADIO AMATEURS BT
BID: $ANS-007.01
The Phase 3-D International Satellite Project Team has an
urgent requirement for someone with the talent, time and tools to
manufacture a spun aluminum pan (sized 22.0 inches in diameter and
3.0 inches deep) from 0.050 inch thick sheet aluminum. This will
be a straight-sided device with no rim on the open end.
This dish will be used to accommodate a design improvement
for the flight model 1.2 GHz antenna for Phase 3-D. The new antenna
design has a 46% larger area and 1.70dB more gain for L Band.
This is also the maximum size dish that we can fit onto the top of
the spacecraft for L Band.
Anyone who can provide this material should quickly contact
Keith Baker at "kb1sf@amsat.org" or Dick Jansson at "wd4fab@amsat.org"
via E-mail. You can also fax your proposal(s) directly to Dick
Jansson at 407-644-9782.
ANS thanks Keith Baker, KB1SF, Executive Vice President
AMSAT-North America for this bulletin.
